"Many heroic exploits and chivalrous adventures are related to me which exist only in the regions of fancy.
With me the world has taken great liberties, and yet I have been but a common man." ....Daniel Boone

Daniel Boone's Relatives
in present Southeastern Kentucky.

The purpose of this section is to explore any possible Boone family connections with families in the area of Knox, Whitley, Pulaski, and Wayne Counties (as well as present-day McCreary County).

I have spent time studying these names and I feel there are definite connections with the families of the same names who settled in our area. Some of the names, besides Boone, are Davis, Hays, Jones, Scholl and VanBibber. I am sure there are more also. These are all names that are common in the area. These families migrated from Virginia and North Carolina into Kentucky.

We know that the Boone families were in the region and it is reasonable to think that they have descendants living there... or from there. I have been told that there are many Boone desecendants in the counties that make up our "Down Home" area.

One of the Boone lines has already been established in the Whitley County area. This is the Willcockson line. Sarah Boone Willcockson, sister of Daniel Boone and wife of John Willcockson, had at least one child who settled in Whitley County. She was Mary Willcockson who married Renalder Walker. Renalder Walker ran a mill in Whitley County. He died there but to my knowledge his grave has not been identified. That is something we are hoping to do also. John & Sarah (Boone) Willcockson have many descendants in Whitley County and the surrounding area still today.

On this page I hope to provide you with the information that I have access to in order to help you make the connection. If you feel there is a possibility that your family descends from any of the Boone families, please get in touch with me. I will work with you and help however I can. If you already have your Boone line researched, please let me know. You could be helping lots of people as well as making sure that your family is included in future Boone family projects.

Please note: I am not asking anyone to submit information on living family members to be published in any public forum.
