Welcome...

Much of this website is still offline at the present time. I am in the process of bringing much of it back. It was removed because it was being plagerized (copied and pasted all over the internet). I've decided to give it one more try but it will take a little time.

Daniel & Rebecca Boone have many descendants living today. If you are one of them, you are welcome to submit your own Boone family lines to be added to the site. As one can imagine, there are also many, many descendants of Col. Boone's ten siblings as well. While this site will delve into those lines, the primary area of concentration will be on the direct descendants of Daniel and Rebecca at this time.

I welcome any corrections or updates to any information you see here. If you would like a link to your Boone related website, let me know and I will be happy to add it.

Please use the menu tabs at the top to navigate through the site.

About portrait

The only known portrait to be painted from life of Daniel Boone was done June, 1820 by Chester Harding in the Flanders & Jemima (Boone) Callaway home at Marthasville, Missouri. Many versions of the portrait have been done by other artists but the original is without a doubt the most truthful and lifelike because Daniel sat right in front of the artist as he painted it. Harding was known for painting truthfully, without trying to cover signs of age. Harding painted the original on a piece of oilcloth. After being displayed for many years, the portrait was put away in an attic for several more years. When Mr. Harding reclaimed it, it had suffered alot of damage from rodents, etc. He cut the head from the original oilcloth and glued it to a new canvas, then repainted the shoulders onto it. That painting is now in a museum in Massachusettes.

The above is a photo of an original which belonged to Nathan Boone; now owned by Lindenwood University, Defiance, Mo. Copyright ©1993 Lindenwood University. This photographed and digitized version copyright ©2007-2012, Margy Miles.
